The US-led coalition fighter jets bombed residential areas in the towns of al-Mayadeen and al-Mahkan in the Southeastern part of Deir Ezzor province, killing 12 civilians and injuring several more, local sources confirmed on Sunday.

The sources said that the US-led coalition aircraft carried out a series of air raids on residential neighborhoods in the town of al-Mayadeen, 29 miles Southeast of Deir Ezzur city.

They added that the US jets also targeted neighborhoods in the town of al-Mahkan near al-Mayadeen.

The sources said that 12 civilians, mostly women and children, were killed in the attacks and several more were injured.

Relevant reports said on Monday that the US warplanes targeted several regions in Raqqa city, killing at least 11 civilians and wounding a number of others.

Meantime, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the US fighter jets pounded one of the ISIL-controlled prisons in the town of Albukamal near the former political security building of Deir Ezzur, killing at least 23 people, including 18 civilians who had been under arrest in the jail, and wounding several others.
