The pro-gov’t forces managed to advance in the Dakwah region after starting their special military operation against the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the desert region East of the Syrian capital city.
A military source said the Syrian army troops and its allies managed to make advances in Badiyeh (desert) Southeast of Homs.
The source went on to say that the region leads up to border with Iraq and is of paramount strategic importance to the Syrian army troops.
The Tishreen Dam is on the Euphrates river at the border of Raqqa and Aleppo provinces.
